UK General Highly Skilled Migrants FAQ
  
What is Highly Skilled Migrant?
A highly skilled migrant is a person that possesses certain skills or experience in a certain field. These skills including their attributes enables applicant to earn a certain number of points. How many points do I need to qualify for the HSM Visa?
To qualify for General Higher Skilled Migrant Visa, the applicant must earn a minimum of 75 points in the attributes such as qualifications, previous earnings, UK experience and age. Applicant also must earn 10 points for English language ability and 10 points for maintenance and funds. Previous earnings are determined by the country the applicant was employed in most recently. Countries are grouped in five different bands. These bands determine how many points the applicant will receive for previous earnings. Do I need a job offer before I can apply for HSM visa?
No, the applicant does not need an offer of employment to apply for HSM visa. However, if you have an offer of employment then the Home Office will process your applicant as an urgent applicant.
 
Can I apply for HSM visa if I am already in the UK?
It depends on your current visa status. If you are on a student visa, you are eligible to apply for HSM visa. If you are in the UK on a Working Holiday Maker visa you cannot apply for HSM visa.
  
Do I need to speak English?
Yes, if English is not the first language of your country, you need to demonstrate proficiency in English. The best way of demonstrating this is by passing the IELTS at Band Level 6.5.
  
Are there any other requirements?
Yes, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to continue the career in the UK and that the applicant can support himself/herself and the family. The applicant must also demonstrate an intention to make UK the main home.
  
If I am on HSM visa in the UK, Can my family members join me?
The family can join the HSM visa holder in the UK. The family can remain in the UK as long as the primary applicant is eligible to remain in the UK.
  

UK Investors FAQ
  
I want to know, Do I qualify to come to the UK as an Investor?
UK welcomes wealthy individuals as investors like most countries. If you have necessary funds then it is very simple and straightforward process to get a visa to come to the UK. The main requirements are followings:
  • You have at least £1,000,000 of your own money, in a regulated financial institution in the UK OR
  • You own personal assets for more than £2,000,000 in value, provided they are not subject to any liabilities and
  • You have money under your control held in a regulated financial institution and disposable in the UK.

If I live in the UK as an Investor, Can I  apply for my Family Visa?
Yes, you can apply for your spouse and children visas as your dependants. You may also choose to send your children to a private school in the UK if you wish because as your dependants your children are entitled to the same FREE education as british children.

You and your family members living with you in the UK are also eligible to FREE health care provided by the National Health Service (NHS).
  
If I am in the UK as an Investor, Can I make the UK my permanent home?
You initial visa will be valid for a period of 12 months. As an investor you need to transfer the funds to the UK within 3 months of your arrival in the UK. At the end of your 12 months in the UK, you can apply for the visa extension for further 3 years. This application normally succeed as long as:
  • You transferred the funds to the UK within 3 months of arrival.
  • Any reduction in the value of your investment in the UK is due to fluctuations in share price only.
  • The total level of the investment still in excess of £1,000,000.

After completing your 4 years stay in the UK you can apply for Indefinite leave to remain (Permanent Residence).

I want to know whether I qualify for the UK Business visa?
To apply for UK Entrepreneur visa and to start your own business in the UK you need to meet the following requirements:
  • You need to invest £200,000 in a new UK business.
  • You need to create full time employment for atleast 2 UK citizens.
  • You need to work solely in the business.
  • You need to show that you have sufficient funds to accommodate and maintain yourself.
  • You have to provide a thorough and viable business plan.
  • The money to be invested in the UK should be your own and not from any other sources (e.g bank loans).
  • The money should be disposable such as cash or share capital.

If I will run my own business in the UK, What benefits my Family with get if they live with me?
You may apply for your spouse and children to accompany you as your dependants. Your spouse or partner and your dependent children can also work in the UK as long as they have permission to stay in the UK. You may also choose to send your children to a private school in the UK if you wish because as your dependants your children are entitled to the same FREE education as british children.

Can I extend my business visa while I am running my business in the UK?
If you will apply for UK business visa you will normally be granted a visa valid for a period of two years. At the end of second year, the visa can be extended by applying to Home Office. For the extension application to be successful, you need to provide necessary documentation showing the progress of your business in the UK. You need to provide documentation of your investments, the employements have been created and if all your documents are acceptable the Home Office will grant you a three-year extension. At the end of the five years stay in the UK you can apply for Indefinite leave to remain (Permanent Residence).
 
I want to apply for UK Entrepreneur Visa, How I should start my Visa Process?

If it is clear that you have very strong case means the amount you are willing to invest is significantly more than £200,000, It may be approved quite quickly by the cousular officials at British Consulate. However if your case requires more careful assessment, it will be referred to the Home Office in the UK.
